He's Driving!

Zack's Birthday

Zack wanted sushi for his birthday meal.

For his birthday Zack asked grandma & grandpa if they would take him and a couple of friends boating. Of course they said yes and we had a super fun day.

Zack is getting to be a pretty good skier!

He also loves to tube! His YM leaders are always so amazed at how much of a beating he can take on a tube and still come up smiling!

It was his friend Austins first time on water skis. We were having some trouble with the boat when he was in the water so his skiing experience wasn't the funnest. He did have a great time on the tube though.

His friend Wyatt tried wake boarding but took a little too much water so he decided to try the tube. He and Zack have spent a lot of time together this summer. They have done a lot of fun things together but sadly he is moving.

Ty's birthday party

For Ty's birthday we took 4 friends and went to Classic Waterslides in Riverdale. We had never been there before but it turned out to be super fun for the boys.

The boy in the white shirt has been Ty's best friend since he was 3. They did everything together; preschool, biked to elementary, lagoon, football, scouts etc. They acted just like brothers including getting on each others nerves and fighting. Last year he moved. :( Luckily it was only to West Haven. This was a fun day for them to be together again, they picked up like he still lived across the street. It was a sweet moment for me to see they still have such a strong connection. True friends are hard to find, these two are true friends.

The boys took a quick break for pizza then it was back to the slides!

Ty had a great day and was very happy with his birthday party!
It was a really fun day!

Summer

This summer has flown by. I don't feel like I've done too many fun things. Usually we go camping, hiking, fishing, boating etc almost every weekend during the summer. In past years we had to cram it all in before football season started. This year was different because we were totally focused on the house and the sport of choice changed.

Looking back I know I didn't do a ton of fun things but my family did.

Zack went to scout camp, a priesthood boating trip and pioneer trek. He and Ty also went to St. George with G & G Weir where they hiked, swam, and went to Tuachan. He took golf lessons with his friend every Tuesday morning and went golfing with Grandpa and Erin. He worked for Greg Mon-Fri where he made a little money and opened his own checking account, padded his savings and learned how quickly cash can disappear. He also helped work on the house. Whew, he had a busy, fun and productive summer!

Ty spent most of his summer playing rugby. Matt was his coach and they both became a little obsessed, but he never got hurt too bad so we have to call it a success. He made a great new friend that he hung out with at Cherry Hill, Surf & Swim and rugby. He also went camping with his scout group and a quick trip to Bear Lake with our family.

Matt worked on the house, played/coached/watched rugby, went on scout camp outs with the boys, played golf, and took me to Tuachan with our good friends to see Sinbad.

I registered the kids for school, ran a 5k with Matt, took a month off from the gym, pulled staples out of the floor, washed walls, drove Zack to work, bought things for the boys outings, and sold a house. I have been busy just not the summer fun kind like the boys.

Here are some fun things we DID manage to do as a family this year.

We celebrated the 4th of July in Kaysville where we saw Grandma Willard in the parade and hung out with our cousins.

We made homemade ice cream by shaking a plastic bag full of good things.

We watched fireworks.

We went to Bear Lake.

Can't find a hat, just use a diaper!

And attended a couple of weddings.

My favorite guy!

We had a great, productive, busy, fun, family filled, work filled summer.

We hope to sneek in a trip to the mountains before its over!

The carpet is done! Yeah!

Nasty old carpet.

Matt decided to replace all the stairs because the old ones were to squeeky. It was a lot of extra work but he is pleased with the results, no more squeeks!

Ahhhh! New super soft, pretty carpet!
My adorable nieces have been watching all this craziness going on with our remodeling project. For a while there every time they would come over things were messy and out of place. We heard funny things like "Becky who made this mess?" and "Now what have you done?" or "Becky where is your carpet?" When the final install was complete this was their reaction.

"Becky can we go on it?"
"yes"
"Becky can we take our shoes off."
"yes"
As they take their shoes off, lay down and literally start doing "snow angels" "Becky it is so soft."

They are right it is so soft and we love it! We lost some pictures when our computer crashed so I don't have the bedroom photos but the boys transformation was probably the biggest next to the basement. No more Buzz Lightyear on the walls. (I mean they are teen/preteen it was time to say goodbye)
New carpet=oh happy day!
